From Our Kitchen

At Maleny Beef, we know that every part of the beast - although infused with a different taste and flavour - can form the platform of an enriching dining experience. The various cuts highlight the diversity of prime Australian beef. It is important to know how to maximise the various flavours and have a few options up our cooking sleeves.

The current trend is to 'add value' to what used to be called secondary cuts. We're all aware of the prime cuts (rib, eye, t-bone, rump etc) but Australians love a hearty roast or tasty stew just as much as a juicy steak. Maleny Beef recognises that every cut provides a wonderful opportunity to broaden the family menu and offer a different and rewarding eating experience. Every cut can be a great dish. That's one of the reasons we charge the same price per kilo for the beast. If we want a steak we want a good steak, and if we want a sausage, we want a (really) good sausage.

Packaging

Our customers love the fact that Maleny Beef is not 'bulk packaged'. We divide your meat into meal size portions to assist with your meal preparation. For example, steaks are packed 1-2 per pack, mince 1 kg packs etc. It takes literally 5 minutes to put your family pack in the freezer. We understand the hassles with traditional bulk purchase and have eliminated this from your life.

Storage

Maleny Beef orders are well packaged and ready for you

  1. to use,
  2. refrigerate for up to 2 days, or
  3. freeze.

Mince and sausages can be frozen for up to 3 months, while other beef cuts can be frozen for up to 6 months.

Tip: When freezing Maleny Beef we recommend that you place freezer paper between each pack to prevent 'sticking' when you go to take a meal later on. Often the same freezer paper can be used next time you purchase Maleny Beef. Believe me, you'll thank us for this tip!

Defrosting

For best results, frozen Maleny Beef should be thawed in the refrigerator for 24 hours before use. Alternatively, you can defrost Maleny Beef using the defrosting setting on your microwave. Defrosted beef should not be re-frozen.
